How does it work?
Hair contains pigment The IPL laser energy is absorbed by the hair which creates a heat that destroys the root hair without causing damage to the skin. The light is quickly passed over the area, treating many hairs with one pulse.

Is it effective?
Yes, the technology is backed by world wide clinical research studies with proven results. The most effective results have been achieved on fair skin and darker hair. It is not suitable for black or sun tanned skin. The treatment is also unlikely to work for blond or grey hair.

How many sessions will I need?
This depends on many factors including your skin and hair type, ethnic background, hormonal balance and skin sensitivity. It is not possible to categorically state how many treatments an individual will need, however this will be discussed at your consultation. Generally speaking the Ellipse treatment only works on hair in the growth phase. This means that 3 to 6 sessions at intervals of a couple of months are required fro optimal results. To get the most from the treatment, other hair reomal methods should be avoided for a month before sessions begin.

What parts of the body can be treated?
Ellipse can treat all external areas of the body and face.

What does a treatment involve?
A cool gel is applied to the area to be treated. The Ellipse hand piece is placed gently against the skin and pulses of intense light are delivered into the hairs. At the time of the treatment some of the hairs are wiped off, however it can take up to two weeks for all the treated hairs to fall out.

Are there any side effects from the treatment?
There are virtually no side effects but the treated are is sensitive to sun and should be protected with a sun block, min factor 30, for the first few weeks following completed treatment.
